The Dead Man's Skull: Blackbeard

“I am going to die!” he shouted, and before he could complete his sentence, he had fallen to the floor, dead. The others were terrified and were hiding. When he came through the door, one of them passed out, falling to the floor and alerting him of their presence.


He lit his long, black beard on fire. He walked slowly to a barrel one of the sailors were hiding in, and he stabbed it to the point blood was coming out of all its sides.


-”NO. Please! Don’t kill me.” One of the others shouted.


He walked to the spot he was hiding in and he grabbed him by the neck.


-”Then tell me where it is…”


-”Where is what?”


-”THE SKULL! WHERE IS IT?”


-”It’s in Port Royal… Inside the Governor’s mansion.”


-”LELOS! GET THE OTHERS, WE ARE LEAVING FOR PORT ROYAL.”


-”Now keep your end of the bargain.”


-”What bargain?”


-”Let us go!”


-”I made no such bargain, boy!”


He then choked the sailor to death.


Lelos the canary, a trusted crewmember of Blackbeard, was in front of this. He freaked out, but he had to be obedient to his captain, or else…


Lelos gathered the rest of the crew and they went back to Blackbeard’s ship, the Queen Anne’s Revenge.


Lelos wanted the surviving sailors to be left alone, but Blackbeard had other ideas… So he took them as slaves.


Blackbeard took command of his ship and ordered the crew to get back to work, so they could reach Port Royal as fast as possible. The crew was an interesting mix. Israel Hands, Black Caesar and James Hook, who was the only crewmate Blackbeard feared.


One night, Lelos was singing alone when Hook approached him. They started talking, and the conversation got more and more serious as it went on.


-”Why does Blackbeard want the skull?” Hook asked.


-”It’s complicated…”


-”Uh ha! I see! He’s trying to trick fate huh?”


-”Aye! See his first mate, he has… weird eyes, you see. He sees things that are going to happen in the future. He predicted Blackbeard’s death and the old fart didn’t like that. He was about to cut his head off when the first mate suggested that there may be a way to… cheat death.”


-”And that’s where the Dead Man’s Skull comes into play?”


-”Aye… See the skull is known to resurrect its owner after they die. But they don’t exactly come back in… their original, God-given form. Instead, they come back as undead skeletons...”


-”What other powers does the skull have?”


-”That is a mystery that only its owner can solve…”


After days of sailing, they finally reached Port Royal.


When the first cannon shot was fired, the whole city went into chaos.


The pirates, through rowboats, reached the city and started looting, killing and searching. All did that except Lelos, who hid in a barrel so he wouldn’t have to participate in murder. Blackbeard also went to land. Without firing a single shot, he killed at least 20 soldiers.


He finally reached the governor’s mansion along with his crew. They knocked on the door. When the governor opened, they said hi to him and shot him dead.


He finally reached the basement, where the skull was stored. He took it and called for all hostilities to cease, as they were now leaving.


Blackbeard and his crew sailed away, victorious.


Blackbeard could finally cheat death…
